Building Process
The Design Phase:
The Design Phase of building a house is an exciting and crucial step in the construction process. It is during this stage that the vision and dreams of homeowners begin to take shape. Architects and designers work closely with clients, listening to their needs, preferences, and specifications, to translate them into a personalized and functional design. Every aspect of the house, from the overall layout to the finer details, is carefully considered and planned. This includes the selection of materials, the incorporation of architectural styles, the optimization of natural light, and the integration of technological elements. The design phase acts as a blueprint for the entire project, serving as a guide for the construction team to follow, ensuring that the final result is not only aesthetically pleasing but also meets the practical requirements of the homeowners.
Site prep/ Foundation:
The site prep and foundation phase of home building are crucial steps in the construction process. Before any work can begin, the site must be cleared of any debris or obstacles. This includes removing trees, rocks, and leveling the ground. Once the site is clear, the foundation can be laid. The foundation provides the stability and support necessary for the entire structure. It is typically made of either poured concrete, concrete blocks or precast walls. The foundation is carefully constructed according to the building plans and local building codes. The site prep and foundation phase is essential as it sets the groundwork for the construction of a solid and durable home.
Framing & Rough ins:
During the framing phase of building a house, skilled carpenters meticulously assemble walls, floors, and the roof system, following plans and specifications. This precise stage ensures the integrity and stability of the home. As the framing takes shape, homeowners can see the layout of each room, making it an exciting transition from drawings to a tangible home.
The electrical, plumbing, and HVAC rough-in is a crucial stage in building a house. It involves initial installation of wires, pipes, and HVAC components. Electrical rough-in secures wiring, boxes, and outlets for a safe system. Plumbing rough-in lays out water, drainage, and gas lines. HVAC rough-in installs ductwork and vents for heating and cooling. Success is vital for long-term functionality and comfort.
After this phase, your home is inspected for code compliance by a local official. This includes structure, electrical systems, plumbing, ventilation, and safety. We then schedule a walk-through to showcase features and address concerns. At Burton Homes, quality and client satisfaction are top priorities, making these steps crucial for your dream home.
Insulation and Drywall:
When it comes to the insulation and drywall phase of home construction, Burton Homes takes pride in using top-quality materials to ensure energy efficiency and optimal comfort for homeowners. In our construction process, we incorporate a combination of fiber glass and continuous rigid foam insulation. Fiber glass insulation is used within the interior walls, effectively trapping air and providing excellent thermal resistance. This helps to maintain a consistent temperature within the home while reducing energy consumption. On the exterior, we utilize continuous rigid foam insulation, which acts as a thermal barrier and minimizes heat transfer. By utilizing these insulation materials, Burton Homes enhances the overall energy efficiency and sustainability of our homes, ensuring that homeowners enjoy not only comfort but also cost savings on their utility bills. Insulation and drywall typical take 3-4 weeks.
Interior/ Exterior Finishes:
The interior and exterior finishes phase of building a house is an exciting and transformative stage. During this phase, attention is given to creating the aesthetic appeal and functionality of the home. On the exterior, durable and visually appealing materials such as brick, siding, or stucco are selected to enhance the overall curb appeal. The selection of windows, doors, and roofing materials adds character and protection to the home. Inside, walls are meticulously finished with paint or wallpaper, while flooring options like hardwood, tile, or carpet are chosen to enhance the space. The installation of cabinetry, countertops, and fixtures in the kitchen and bathrooms adds functionality and a touch of luxury to these important spaces. Lighting fixtures and electrical outlets are strategically placed to maximize functionality and create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The interior and exterior finishes phase is truly where the vision of the house comes to life, transforming it into a beautiful and livable home.
Final walk through/ Service:
At Burton Homes, we understand that building a house is an exciting journey for our clients, which is why we prioritize the final walk through to ensure every detail is perfect. During the final walk through, our clients have the opportunity to inspect and familiarize themselves with their new home one last time before completion. They can check the finishes, fixtures, and overall quality of the construction to ensure their satisfaction. To further guarantee the long-term durability of our homes, we offer a 60-day and a 1-year check up with a representative from Burton Homes. This "seasoning" period allows us to address any potential issues that may arise after the house settles. Our representative will thoroughly inspect the home, addressing any concerns and ensuring that our clients' investment continues to stand the test of time.
Stick built or Modular?
There are several reasons why a stick-built house is considered superior to a modular one. The primary advantage lies in the customization options available within stick-built construction. With stick-built homes, homeowners have the freedom to choose unique architectural designs, floor plans, and personalized features, allowing them to create a home that perfectly suits their preferences and lifestyle. Additionally, stick-built homes offer greater flexibility during the construction process, enabling adjustments or modifications to be made easily. Moreover, stick-built houses often boast higher-quality materials and craftsmanship, resulting in superior durability and longevity. Lastly, stick-built homes tend to appreciate in value over time, as they are typically perceived as more traditional and desirable by potential buyers. Overall, the ability to create a one-of-a-kind home tailored to individual needs, combined with superior craftsmanship, make stick-built houses a preferred choice for many homeowners.
